I was reading Psalm 3 this morning. I noticed the word 'selah' three times. The footnote says that it is a word of uncertain meaning, but I remember someone telling me that it seems to be a term that indicates a musical interlude, a time to stop and think about it. Be still and know God.
My teacher husband, my teacher friends, and I have been noticing that the ability to be still and think about it is an ability that must be cultivated. With the distractions of media abounding around us and our young, selah is too often missing in our lives.
What do you do to "selah"?

Ahhhh! To be still....To hear what HE has to say to us...Difficult to do in our hectic, busy lives...so longed for...yes, it must be cultivated, grown, matured...Do you think HE gets tired of waiting on us to be still and listen?
I think He longs for us to be still and listen. I think He longs to be known by us. Do you know how we long to be truly known by the people we cherish? I think that longing in our hearts is a dim reflection of His longing to reveal Himself to us. He loves us sooo much.
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom." (Isaiah 40:28)
Nope! He doesn't get tired of waiting. He is the true Father of the prodigal son.
